Friends are so unique
So very hard to find
Friends will not critique
They are one of a kind

To lose a friend to death
Empties out your heart
You know with their last breath
Your souls will never part

As I watched you laying there so calm
I could have sworn that you were sleeping
The years of stress were no longer there
The shadow of pain had left your face

It seemed like you were napping Grandpa
Like you used to do on hot summer days
There was certainly a peace about you
I swear you looked relaxed to me Grandpa

Like a man resting after a long journey
I know that you are gone forever more
I will miss you for the rest of my life
But you looked like you were sleeping

The years pass and I miss you so
How I’ve survived I just don’t know
You were my anchor for so very long
The one who taught me right from wrong

Back to when you tucked me in at night
Left my door open and turned on the hall light
The little things that you used to do
Now fond memories of all we went through

As I grew older you were always around
Cheering me up when I was down
No problem I had was ever too small
You always took the time to hear them all

Now that you’re gone I feel so alone
And although I know you rest by a throne
I miss you so much its selfish I know
But that is how much I love you so

As I swim this ocean of memory
One thing rises to the surface

I realize how much I miss that smile
That smile you had for me

You always greeted me with that smile
It was special and unique

A smile from Mother to Child
That said I Love You

A Mother’s love is binding
Unrelenting in its power
The glow from it so blinding
Beyond her final hour

Even after a Mother’s gone
Her love will see you through
A love to help you carry on
Because that’s what Mother’s do

Mom, where are you
I can’t see you any more
I don’t know what to do
I feel so insecure

You were always there
To mend my every pain
Broken hearts and despair
And bruises all the same

Thought I knew sadness
I never had a clue
My pain close to madness
Now that I lost you

Not a day goes by
You’re not on my mind
On this you can rely
I’ll love you for all time

Robbed of our tomorrow
Before I could wed your son
A heart destined for sorrow
After all is said and done

Robbed of a Mother In Law to be
The man I love robbed of a Mother
That future meant so much to me
And even more so to another

I promise to be a good wife
To be there for your son everyday
To do you honor in our life
Our testimonial in some way

As I think back to that day
When I saw you lying there
You could have been sleeping
Peaceful without a care

Your time on earth was done
And now I shed tears of sorrow
Your time to rest had come
There was no more tomorrow

I will not forget that day Grandma
We left the cemetery weeping
And I kept thinking to myself
You could have been sleeping

It hurts to lose a Daughter
Pain your heart can’t stand
If only you had caught her
As when her life began

You were always there
To mend her every ache
Although it seems unfair
Her soul was Gods to take

Your little girl has gone away
There is nothing you can do
You will miss her every day
For she was part of you
